Cipher wheels

Kia ora,

This term, we having been looking at pirates. This term our work is based on Pirates...what they do & how they do their Cipher wheels. We had to look on our class site to see what a Cipher wheel is, how they use it and create one of our own!

Cipher wheels:
Cipher Wheels are these really creative way to talk to someone or communicate. Which is very interesting! So in these past three days we made a cipher wheel and found a way to talk to someone and count. Cipher wheels were made in 1470, by an Italian architect. It was a way that pirates could talk or send letters too.

The ways of using a Cipher is by setting up a letter and a number to be able to unlock the code.

Maybe you should try it one day :)

Matariki!

  Kia ora,

This Week, We have been learning about Matariki! It is our theme for this week, to learn about Matariki and what it does that to effects us.

I have explained it in my slide but I'm gonna tell you a bit more. Matariki is the Maori New Year. It is a new beginning and starts a new harvest. There are a few stories that connect to Matariki. One with the mother who cried out tears, the children separated by fighting and another that I don't remember.

I hope you like my post/slide. What have you learned about it?

Pōha

Kia ora,

This week ( Week 10 ) Some reading groups have been learning about Pōhā. It is a bag that Maori people other cultures store their food in. Especially Mutton birds. I think it is creative and better than wasting money on a refrigerator or cans since you still have to pay for those refrigerators.

I enjoy learning about Pōhā and it was the most interesting thing to know from books than the other books I've read. No offense but this was interesting/engaging.

Things I can work on:
Spelling etc...

Term 2!

Kia ora,

During term 2 we have missed 4-6 weeks of school when we came back from lockdown we were rethinking about the C.E.R.R values: (Compassion, Excellence, Responsibility & Respect), fruits of the holy spirit: (Love, Joy, self-control, etc, and we can also receive. So we have been learning about those for a couple of days now! The class hasn't been doing much work for the past 2 weeks now because our teacher (Ms. Wilton) and the class has had a crap 2 weeks of school because of 2 boys who didn't do much work and distracting the class at the end of the week!!! Which the class found it annoying and some people (like me) wanted to punch the crap out of him! But I couldn't :(

 C.E.R.R CAFE:
Some of the class and Ms. Wilton have thought about making her office into a Cafe which the name is: (C.E.R.R Cafe) But we also have some good times now.  My favorite highlight/thing of this week is that we got to some fun times and also some work. In-Room 6 we have got a cafe and we have some rules for it. We use these rainbow tokens to get something from it e.g toast, hot chocolate, breakfast, etc: These tokens have a meaning and each one of them means our C.E.R.R. Values. Once we get them we get to choose whatever we want to get!

This week has been super 'good' except for a couple of days that scared me! I appreciate those who gave me fun times and calming times. Also, another big thank you to our teacher, Ms. Wilton for awesome job x! But I'm also scared that Ms. Wilton is gonna get hurt in a way that I have no idea, so from now on I'm going to be her bodyguard (kinda)!

Enjoy your week/weekend! :) This week has been amazing with my 2 best friends: Zipporah & Lauren!

Go Gorilla Go

Kia ora,

During lockdown, we were put in writing groups. We had to create some pick a path stories, a pick a path story is where there's a part for each scene, you either pick to do this in the story or do that in the story. For example, in my story you can trust the Snake and ask you for help, or you can choose not to. This took us about 6 weeks or more to complete! My story is about a Gorilla, Snake, you'll find out soon!

I found it really confusing and difficult. This was also pretty hard to think about your topic when it's over a picture cause some could have had the same writing.

For my pick a path I made a google form! Hope you like it!

Tidy Numbers

Kia ora,

This week or last few weeks we've been learning about doing tidy numbers. The work that were given was kinda easy...maybe you should try it out one day!

We all are split into groups, i'm in: Mercury

What I found easy: Adding and Subtracting! If I could work on something, probably is to make more sense or be more understandable :)

Please don't cheat! :) So here is my DLO about Tidy Numbers!
