The True Story of Hansel and Gretel

Kia ora,

Last Friday the Senior part of my school went to the Royal ballet of Hansel and Gretel, some of the schools around Christchurch went as well. Our teacher gave us a choice of writing our True story about Hansel and Gretel.

We only watched the 2nd act for a hour because we needed to bus back to school. My favourite part about the ballet was when Gretel carried the witch in the oven and killed her! My story about Hansel and Gretel was kinda the exact same to the second half. I haven't read the book or the 1st act.

Have you read the book of Hansel and Gretel?

Introduction:

Once a upon a time, Hansel & Gretel's Mum & Dad were lost in the forest. Their Mum and Dad didn’t know what to do if they got lost again, so they put bread around the forest. So when Hansel & Gretel woke up from their nap, they would follow the line that the bread was on. They were so scared that the witch was gonna eat them! Hansel, we need to run…..

Hansel and Gretel:

“HANSEL, help me, I need to look for our parents now!”
“Hey they put bread around the forest so they won’t get lost, and we won’t get lost finding them”
“Let’s follow it Gretel, we need to do it now, before the witch comes”
 “Hansel, now”
“Look the witch it trying to look in between the holes”
“What holes?”
“Down There”
 “And what?”
“We need to get her home”
 “Okay, let’s do it now!”
“Okay boss”
“Yes, now we need to get home and eat first before we….:
“Before we what??”
“Ummmm….”
“Okay, here's the plan we are going to get our parents, before the witch eats them”
 “AHHHHH”
“Hansel look, be careful around the traps that the witch made”
“Okay sis”
 “Wait, what?”
“What is up with you, Hansel”?
“Idk, but we're gonna find them, just trust me”
 “Yeah sure”
“We found them but, that’s not our Mum and Dad in the woods, isn’t it?''
“No”
“AHHHHH, can you believe what just happened”
“Just leave the witch for now, Okay Gretel”
“Yes, okay” (Sigh)

“Mmmm yes okay, sooner or later we need to come back here, and see if the witch has left Mum and Dad”
" I just need some time to work things out for Mum and Dad, when we make a new family again".

The Next Evening:

Hansel & Gretel looked for their parents for the whole day but all they seem to find is the witch ‘Sleeping’ on the ground. Hansel & Gretel sneaked around the witch when she was asleep. They found Mum and Dad now, but they need to get the key off the witch to open the cage for Mum and Dad. Gretel got it off her, they need to open it without her hearing .

"Okay, let’s get it over and done with."
"Yay, we got Mum and Dad out".
"SHHHH, Mum and Dad, SHHHHH".
" Hansel get the trolley and I’ll get Mum and you’ll get Dad"
"Phew, now we can take them home now."

 To Be Continued….
Hansel and Gretel’s Farewell:

When Hansel got his sister from the oven, he thought she was dead, but only she was ‘Faking’ dead. Hansel quickly rushed back home and got his first aid box. He thought he ould to it all by himslef, but really he needed Gretel. She was ‘Dead’, they were a team together, until they were brought up. Hansel needed her so much, do you know what he did??....

Gretel’s Mum was divored to Hansel’s Dad. They were still family, they couldn’t see each-other everyday, like they wanted to! So they decided to move into together as a family, they had to let their Mum and Dad first. They went to their parent’s and talked them out of the conversation. Hansel was scared that his Dad was gonna say no! Gretel asked nicely, to her Mum and said
“Mum, Can Hansel and I move in together, because it’s just too much for us…. living separtly”

In class for this term we have been doing reading groups and each group has a passage their reading about, my group is Sophie and we're reading: Breakfast in the bus, is this about: Grandad living in the bus, and having breakfast his with his Granddaughter. Grandad has a hearing aid, he thought he lost it but it slipped out of his hands.

Why isn't the world covered in poo?

Kia ora,

WALT: Critically analyse texts.

In reading we have been doing as a class looking 'Why isn't the world covered in poo'. For each task we had to look for the information on the google doc or the videos on the site. For this we have made a slideshow or a google doc. Each day I'm going to keep adding to the slideshow! What do I know:

 - Dung beetles are found anywhere that there is dung. Dung beetle only wake up if they smell dung around them.

 - There are dung beetles all over the world. In Africa there are heaps of different kinds.

 - Dung beetles eat dung. There are dung beetles all over the world. In Africa, there are several different kinds. These busy little insects play a very important part in the way nature works.

Kia ora,

WALT: Combine prior and new knowledge to come up with new ideas.

In class for this term we have been doing reading groups and each group has a passage their reading about , my group is Sophie and we're reading: The Tame Eels of Anatoki. This story is about New Zealand long-finned eels are among the largest of their kind in the world. They can grow as long as 1.75 metres and weigh up to 20 kg. In fact, the eels would hear her footsteps on the rocks and would swim out form the rocks and ledges to meet her. Margaret McCallum went on feeding the Eels for more than fifty years!

For this activity 'Design a new habitat for these Eels so that the visitors can watch them swimming about and play with them if you want to? For this I always do a google drawing:

Mission: Possible

Kia ora,

In class for RE we have been doing a Mission: God gave Jesus a mission, he gave the disciples and then the disciples gave us a mission!

We  all follow what Jesus does, he is our role model! For that we created a animation from powtoon, and put all that information in our slides. We had to do this Individually, we weren't paired up. Here is my powtoon that I created! With all our Missions!

Boots: Descriptive Writing

 Kia ora,

In Class for writing we have been looking at Descriptive Writing: (That's our topic for the this term). We got paired up with someone, my buddy is: Fria, after that we had to describe about a Character that's from a cartoon or a show. Our character that we described about is Boots from: Dora the explorer!

This is our writing that we described about:

Boots is a monkey that loves and cares about his family and friends. Boots is very smart as a human, because he can speak Spanish.

Boots can be more cheekier than swiper. When Dora and Boots friends, needs his help he is always there. When Boots was lost or needs a friend Dora is always there, like Boots is.

The trees move around as Boots and Dora saves the day. Boots and Dora explore the wild, and help other animals in the forest when they are stuck or lost, then they get them back home safely. Boots, is an amazing Monkey, when Dora or someone tells him what to do.

Boots can get very clingy when he’s around Dora, he is very climby when he is around trees and, Boots is very adventurous. Boots is a very talkative monkey, but that is a good thing so he can cooperate with Dora when someone is in need of help. Boots is very brave whenever he’s with bad people. BOOM

Overall this is Boots personality and life. Maybe you should watch Dora the Explorer, to learn what Boots does? Boots loves his bananas as a treat, the end!

Printmaking-Flowers

 Kia ora,

 WALT explore different printmaking conventions.

In class, we have been doing some printmaking and how this work is that, First we had to sketch the flower we are going to print and we had to make about four sketches and pick one between the four sketches we made. After we receive another piece of paper and a cardboard paper that is shaped like a square with even sides. Next we had to trace the cardboard paper onto the piece of paper to put the flower we chose between the four sketches. Then lastly, draw the flower we choose on the piece of paper that is now shaped as a square. After all the sketching and the shaping, we were given a thick piece of paper and using the paper with our flower on it, we had to trace but not tracing the whole thing, we had to put layers and glue them on the piece of cardboard we had earlier, like this!

In the weekend, our printmaking flowers got sent to Riccarton for the flowers of festival. There was 3 people who got 1st, 2nd and 3rd, 2 people got Highly commended. I was one of them xo!
