Family Roles and Time

Kia ora

In Class recently, for RE we've been learning about different roles and times people have! As a class, on the mat our teacher, Ms Wilton was teaching us about Tuakana (elders) and our Matamua (first born). For this activity, we had to write down the roles for our own Family's. For example what my roles are for times in the days. Like one of the times was at school, and at school my role was to be a role model!

For my google drawing, I did my some of family that I used to live with.

Anzac Mascots

Kia ora,

In Week 8, my class has been learning about Anzac Mascots like animals. We read out an article about the Anzac Mascots and I chose one Animal Mascot from the war. What I learnt was about the animals that were included in the war. Like Donkeys, Horses, dogs etc. The donkey and horse were to carry heavy stuff on their back like buckets of water. Dogs were to find wounded soldiers. I have my information about the Anzac mascots down in the slide and about a dog named Caesar.

What something that you learnt about Caesar?

Māori Meanings

Kia ora,

This week we have been researching some words in Te Reo Maori. We were told to find out the meaning of the Maori words that are on my biteable! In this video, I tried my best finding out the meaning of the words on a Maori Dictionary because google translate is you know... sometimes a lie. So the words are down below:)

Maths DLO

Kia ora,

For the past few days my Maths group has been learning how to jump into a tidy number on a number line. We learnt it all in Maths time and for once we actually understood the strategy so we made a DLO how to use it and so we can teach other students how to use them.

I made a slideshow to show some of you how to do it. I have not finished the slideshow...in my Maths time I'll be working on it!

Francis Douglas

Kia ora,
 Wanna learn about Francis Douglas?

Last week my class read a story about Francis Douglas & Maximilian Kolbe. We all had to choose out of them both. I chose Francis Douglas. We made a DLO about them and told what they are and who they are. This is my work about Francis Douglas

ANZAC writing

W.A.L.T: Use descriptive language.

Kia ora,
In week 5 my class have been looking at descriptive writing, out teacher Ms Wilton read us a book called The ANZAC Violin by: Robyn Belton. This is some facts/stuff about him, more than 20 years after publication of the classic NZ story, the Bantam and the soldier, Jennifer Beck and Robyn Belton have joined forces again to produce another heartwarming story from the first world war.
This book was about the soldier named Alexander Aitken, one day he had to leave his violin and left a note to take care of my violin. He was sent back home because he shot, and another day his violin was sent back to him.

Our class had to make a paragraph with describing words about the war in Gallipoli.

As I fainted, the memorable sound of the engines roaring at me. The horrible sound of bones cracking in my old DISGUSTING ear. Gunshots, start haunting me down in the muddy and dusty mountains. The muggy air is sunny and wet, as sweat drops enter down, to my dirty rusty skin. Now you can see all the bloodstains from the cold soldiers who were pushed down the rolly mountains by the hypocrites to get. There’s only one place I could hide during the pathetic war…..

This is my paragraph. The words I used was dirty skin, fainted, memorable, gunshots, hypocrites, bones cracking, DISGUSTING, we have to have up to 6 sentences or more!

 - Diary entry: Alexander Aitken
 - Attributes chart; See, hear, location, movement & temperature
 - Which part my diary is about : My part of my story is about Alexander Aitken and other soldiers  getting shot in my mind
- What I enjoyed: The book, and the describing words
- What I found hard:  The words were hard to explain with my writing
