Koru's

Kia ora,

Recently we've been learning about Koru's (Raewyn Harris)

Koru's have many meanings, In Maori design the greenstone koru has a dual meaning. It is commonly used in Maori art as a symbol of creation due to its round shape. The English word for koru is loop. Koru symbolizes new life, growth, strength and peace. Koru's is an integral symbol in Maori art, craving and tattoos. 

Based on unfurling fern fronds of the native New Zealand Silver fern and of the ponga plant. Pongas grow wild and are found in damp bushes, parks and reserves throughout Aotearoa.
